Of course, the choral competition is historically the most important and well-known event. Fifteen choirs will take part in the edition of this year:

Over 500 choristers will perform at the competition and will be evaluated by an international jury of ten musicians: Li Yang (China), Kim Bang Hae Ock (South Korea), Yohannes Budi Susanto (Indonesia), Fabrizio Barchi (Italy) Luca Scaccia (Italy), Geert-Jan Van Beijeren (Netherlands), Eugeniusz Kus (Poland), Bozidar Crnjanski (Serbia), Jose Francisco Herrero (Spain), Sebastjan Vrhovnik (Slovenia). To the above members of the jury Mr. Michele Josia (Italy) will then be added for the composition competition and Marko Munih as president of the 28th Grand Prix Seghizzi, which is the most important event and where the most prestigious prizes will be given. All stages of the competition (the afternoon of 22 and 23 July, the morning of 24July), the Grand Prix Seghizzi (the afternoon of 24 July), and the awards ceremony, to which a gala concert of the winning choirs will follow, will be held at the “Verdi” Theater in Gorizia, free entrance.
In addition to the competition, an important position in the events is held by the 14th Festival SEGHIZZINREGIONE which consists of 15 concerts (18 to 25 July) held in the following towns of the region Friuli Venezia Giulia: Gradisca d’Isonzo (GO), Grado (GO), Gorizia, Monfalcone (GO) Villesse (GO), Campolongo-Tapogliano (UD) Cervignano (UD), Chiopris-Viscone (UD), Coseano (UD), Fiumicello (UD), Palmanova (UD), Tolmezzo (UD), Spilimbergo (PN).
As a corollary to the above events, other initiatives are planned, such as the 12th International Prize Seghizzi “A Life For The Choral Direction”, of which the Polish musician Eugeniusz Kus will be rewarded, the Seghizzi Talk (meetings with musicians) a version 2.0 of the traditional convention “Seghizzi” (cared by journalist Margherita Reguitti), and, last but not least, GAD “Gorizia Arte Diffusa”, meant to promote the artistic exhibition realities in Gorizia. This is an opportunity for choirs, musicians, guests and audience present in Gorizia for Seghizzi events of knowing the local artistic production.
The complex organization of all events is supported (freely and passionately) by about a hundred people among which we mention the members of the choir “Perosi” of Fiumicello, the choir “Seghizzi” of Gorizia, as well as other choirs, municipalities, cultural and musical associations, businesses and supporters , private and public institutions. All that represents an extensive synergy of forces without which all the above events would be much more difficult, if not impossible to realize. We want to stress that all those many collaborations will ensure that the 2016 edition of Seghizzi musical events will be characterized by greater visibility, participation and involvement, in order to enhance not only their musical and cultural aspect but also their social, human and territorial dimension.
